About Doubtless Bay Water
Doubtless Bay Water Supply Co Ltd (DBWS) is a privately owned Public Water Supply Company.
The company began operation in 1985, and supplies drinking water and related services to customers in Mangonui, Coopers Beach, Cable Bay, Taipa and Oruru, in the Far Northland of New Zealand.
Water is sourced from three surface and groundwater locations at Mangonui, Taipa, and Oruru. Water is then filtered and treated, and supplied via an extensive reticulated network.
Responsibilities
Ministry for the environment
Pursuant to section 167 of the Resource Management Act 1991, Doubtless Bay Water Supply is an approved requiring authority, responsible to the Minister for the Environment (notice #1996-go7710).
TAUMATA AROWAI
Doubtless Bay Water Supply is a registered drinking water provider and audited by Taumata Arowai, NZ’s water services regulator, for compliance to New Zealand’s Drinking Water Standards. This includes water testing compliance, operator competence, water safety plan adherence and treatment process compliance.
NORTHLAND Regional Council
The Northland Regional Council (NRC) grants and monitors the resource consents held by Doubtless Bay Water Supply. NRC can impose water shortage directions on groundwater takes when water levels are low.
Qualifications
We have staff trained in a New Zealand standard for water treatment and supply.
We have a Registered Plumber on staff.
